John Woods is the Global Co-Chair of Baker McKenzie’s Global Cybersecurity Practice. Since 2001, he has counseled a variety of corporations in the defense, financial, technology and manufacturing industries. He has a particular focus on overseeing complex cyber related investigations and developing a legal response to significant network intrusion events. He served as investigative, regulatory and litigation counsel in three of the four largest ATM “cash-out” incidents (totaling more than $60MM), and in 2014 was asked to present to Interpol on effective methods of public-private information sharing during global cyber incidents. He regularly counsels clients on information governance issues and effective pre- incident legal risk management strategies, and in the past year has overseen two projects to identify, collect, catalogue and provide a legal risk assessment of third party contractual arrangements in the financial and defense industries.
