PartnerCordery Compliance

I am experienced commercial lawyer, with well over a decade of experience in working and building relationships with corporate counsel, procurement and compliance teams. I have a particular interest in all things data - data protection, freedom of information, data security and all things digital.

From conducting data protection audits, overseeing the development of compliant CRM solutions, advising businesses on how to integrate their data and the public sector on when they are able to exploit their data, and working both to achieve the disclosure of data, and protect it when disclosure would have been detrimental under the Freedom of Information Act, there are very few aspects of the legislation I haven't scrutinised.

I have a keen interest in technology - in its use to ease the burden of compliance responsibilities, but also in its application in business, and advises clients on their technology licensing and development, and, particularly pertinent regarding licence compliance issues, the use of open source software.

I advise consumer-facing businesses on the best ways to ensure compliance with the UK consumer law regime, including how to consolidate good practice across different channels, and structures such as online marketplaces.

I'm particularly in demand for analysing complex situations. Things can be complex because of the commercial arrangements - the parties, the services, the structure or the potential impact - or because of legal issues - where IP rights, consumer law, data protection law or other regulations bite. I'm here to see through the complexities and navigate a safe course.
I also really love training on topics legal topics – even those which some may consider dry… But they don’t have to be. Recent feedback included "Thinks like a client. Really amazing".

My key skill is identifying how clients can achieve a compliant solution with the minimal detriment - or indeed maximum benefit - to their business or undertaking.
