Ethan Ackerman counsels companies in complex litigation, particularly as it relates to electronic discovery (eDiscovery). Working with clients and also with other counsel, Ethan tailors solutions for effectively handling, and avoiding, electronic discovery in civil litigation, arbitration, Congressional and administrative proceedings. He advises on all phases of trial and motions practice, including pre-litigation counseling regarding legal hold and document preservation, information management and records retention policies, protective orders and relief, discovery response planning, technology-assisted review defensibility, and cost recovery.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ethan served as legislative counsel for a US senator. In the Senate, he advised on legal and policy issues before the Judiciary and Commerce Committees, addressing federal courts and civil procedure rules, privacy, telecommunications, intellectual property (IP), antitrust issues, and information policy.
