Catherine Muir is Of Counsel in the Washington, DC office. She practices in the areas of internal investigations, data security and information management, and e-discovery. She is a former senior counsel at Sprint Nextel, where she was responsible for records compliance and e-discovery strategies.

Ms. Muir routinely advises global corporations in the financial services, telecommunications, media and retail industries. Her practice includes advising clients on internal investigations, data security, information governance and discovery under the United States Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

  • Analyzed a company’s response to a significant security breach and coordinated response to regulators
  • Coordinated multi-layered response plan for significant cyber security issue for a global bank
  • Served as coordinating strategic discovery counsel in a large-scale internal investigation of a Fortune 50 financial institution, as well as in related government subpoenas and civil litigation
  • Coordinated discovery and managed large-scale document analyses for DOJ Second Request in the transportation industry, a civil investigative demand and FCC response in the telecommunications industry, and a FTC request regarding a significant data breach
  • Advised a Fortune 50 retailer on regulatory requirements of implementing WIFI services for customers
  • Developed information governance policies, discovery protocols and IT system inventories for several Fortune 500 companies
