Al represents multinational corporations and small businesses in matters involving electronic information law. Al began his practice representing companies in complex commercial litigation. As head of SHB’s Data Security team, Al helps clients minimize risks associated with data breaches by counseling them before and after a data
breach occurs. In addition, he advises clients in matters arising from online defamation, data privacy, and other technology-related issues. Al is a Certified Information Privacy Professional accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. After graduating from Boston University School of Law, Al served as a staff attorney to former Chief Judge Martha C. Warner at Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach. Al is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Science and Technology Section. Within the ABA’s Science and Technology Section, Al has become active in the Cloud Computing and E-Privacy committees. His interest in technology led Al to launch his own blog (Data Security Law Journal) in which he discusses legal developments and trends in data security and data privacy. Al is a member of the firm’s Technology Exchange Committee, the Dade County Bar Association’s Technology Committee, and he has spoken extensively about the use of technology in the practice of law. Al has been included among South Florida Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” and Attorney At Law magazine’s “Twelve to Watch in 2012.” He was also named a “Top Up and Comer” in the 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 editions of the South Florida Legal Guide; a “Rising Star” in the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 editions of Florida Super Lawyers magazine; and a 2010 “Mover and Shaker” by South Florida Business Leader.
