Mr. Colvin represents clients in complex intellectual property litigation, as well as commercial litigation and Hatch-Waxman matters. Mr. Colvin’s legal and technical experience spans a wide variety of technology areas, including network architecture, oil and gas drilling technologies, aerospace structures, composite materials, manufacturing, and medical devices. He is best known for his extensive knowledge of and experience with complex mechanical systems and devices large and small. His practice also encompasses means of transportation, from cars and airplanes to spacecraft and rockets.
Mr. Colvin is an efficient team manager leading day-to-day operations of large teams of on litigation matters with values in the billions of dollars. He has conducted 30+ depositions, has argued three Markman hearings, numerous substantive and dispositive motions, and has directed a witness at trial. Mr. Colvin has extensive experience managing U.S. and international discovery in-house and working with third-party vendors.
He first joined Fish as a Summer Associate in 2011. Mr. Colvin is admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Texas bar.
Prior to his legal career, he was a Chief Structural Engineering Instructor and an aircraft battle damage repair engineer in the United States Air Force. He has experience with aircraft life cycle management focusing on structural composites and advanced material development.
