A former litigation paralegal, Marla is a seasoned legal professional with over 20 years of experience in various legal fields, including legal publishing, court reporting, court filings, e-discovery, legal technology, and litigation support. Currently she is the Chief Operations Officer and a Director of The Master's Conference and freelance eDiscovery Consultant for solo and small firms in legal technology. She is also a sought-after MCLE speaker and panelist on various legal topics.
Marla is passionate about educating people on eDiscovery and best practices, especially for small law firms that may not have the resources or experience of larger firms. She is a CEDS (Certified eDiscovery Specialist) professional and has obtained her eDiscovery Executive Certificate (eDEx) and eDiscovery Advance Certificate (eDAdv).
She is an active member and/or board member of several legal associations in Southern California, including ACEDS Orange County, serving as the Founding President and now Immediate Past President, and Women in eDiscovery (WiE) in both Orange County and San Diego, where she has held various board and committee positions. In addition, she is also on the board of directors for her high school alumni association to help raise money for the school and her class reunion committee.
Marla obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Pacific and her paralegal certificate from the University of California - Irvine. She is an avid San Diego sports fan, event planner, reader, and outdoor enthusiast who spends her free time with her English Springer Spaniel, Jazmin.
